Läpäisytestaus

Läpäisytestaus, often translated as penetration testing or pentesting, is a simulated cyber attack against a computer system, network, or web application to identify security vulnerabilities. The purpose is to find weaknesses that a malicious attacker could exploit, allowing for them to be remediated before they are discovered and leveraged by real attackers. This process is conducted by security professionals who are authorized to attempt to breach the target's defenses.

White-box testing involves the tester having full knowledge of the system, including source code and architecture. Gray-box testing is a combination, where the tester has some limited knowledge of the system.
