Läppäventtiilien

Läppäventtiilien, often translated as butterfly valves, are a type of quarter-turn valve used to regulate or isolate flow. They consist of a disc mounted on a rotating shaft within the valve body. When the valve is fully open, the disc is rotated 90 degrees so it is parallel to the flow. When the valve is fully closed, the disc is rotated 90 degrees to be perpendicular to the flow, blocking the passage.

These valves are known for their simple construction, relatively low cost, and ease of operation. They are suitable for a wide range of applications, including water treatment, chemical processing, and general industrial use. The disc's position in the flow stream can be adjusted to control the rate of flow, making them a versatile option for throttling purposes, although they may not offer the precise control of some other valve types.

Läppäventtiilien are available in various materials, such as cast iron, stainless steel, and plastic, to suit different media and operating conditions. They can also be equipped with different types of actuators, including manual levers, gearboxes, pneumatic actuators, and electric actuators, to provide automated or remote control. Their compact design and light weight make them easy to install and maintain, especially in larger pipe sizes. Despite their simplicity, they are effective in many flow control scenarios.
