Luftudkast

Luftudkast is a type of storm surge that occurs when a storm, such as a hurricane or typhoon, makes landfall and brings in a large amount of water from the ocean. This phenomenon is most commonly associated with storm surges along coastlines, where the rising water level can cause widespread flooding, damage to property and infrastructure, and loss of life.

The term "luftudkast" is primarily used in Danish, where it translates to "air throw" or "air cast". This refers to the idea that the strong winds from the storm force the water to rise and burst over the coastline, much like a thrown object would when it leaves a person's hand. The resulting storm surge can be up to several meters high and can travel inland for significant distances before receding.

Luftudkast is often associated with intense storms that generate strong winds, high wind speeds, and low atmospheric pressure. The effects of a luftudkast can be devastating, especially in areas with low-lying terrain, where the storm surge can spread out and inundate large areas.
