Ljuselement is a conceptual class of luminescent materials used in photonics and display technology. The term denotes materials engineered to emit light with high efficiency when stimulated by electrical, optical, or chemical energy. A ljuselement typically consists of a host lattice doped with activator ions or defect centers. The emission color is determined by the electronic transitions of the dopants or by defect-related states, and spectra can span the visible to near-infrared range. Energy transfer processes, such as sensitizer-activator pairing, are commonly exploited to optimize brightness and color purity.
