Liuottinpohjaisia

Liuottinpohjaisia is a Finnish adjective meaning solvent-based, used to describe products or formulations that rely on organic solvents as their primary medium rather than water. The term is formed from liuotin (solvent) and pohjainen (based), and liuottinpohjaisia is the plural partitive form used with plural nouns (for example, liuottinpohjaisia maaleja).

In practice, the label is applied to a range of products, most commonly paints and coatings, varnishes, adhesives, inks, and certain cleaning agents. These are contrasted with vesipohjaiset (water-based) alternatives. The designation signals characteristics typical of solvent-based systems, such as higher solvent content and the use of organic solvents to dissolve components and carry pigments.

Typical properties of liuottinpohjaisia formulations include stronger film formation, potentially higher durability and chemical resistance, and often faster drying times.
