Litteäkeräin

Litteäkeräin is a term found in Finnish technical literature used to describe a flat-plate collector device designed to gather energy or signals from a planar source. The concept centers on a rectangular panel that is lightweight and compact, intended for integration with other systems such as heating, power generation, or sensing networks.

A typical litteäkeräin comprises a transparent cover, a flat absorber surface with a selective coating, insulation in the back, and a rigid frame. In solar thermal use, a heat-transfer fluid circulates through microchannels or tubes bonded to the absorber, transferring collected heat to a storage tank or heat exchanger. In photovoltaic or sensor-oriented variants, the panel may incorporate electrical connections or optical couplings to convert captured light into electricity or useful signals.

Variants and applications include flat-plate solar collectors for domestic heating, building-integrated energy systems, and hybrid photovoltaic-thermal configurations. The flat form factor lends itself to roof installations, façades, or modular assemblies where space efficiency and ease of installation are prioritized.
