Lirathan is a fictional city-state in a fantasy setting, known as a maritime trading hub and center of learning. History: Lirathan arose as a trading outpost in the early medieval era, growing through merchant alliances and shipbuilding, and establishing municipal governance that combined guild representation with popular councils. It remained an independent city-state despite periodic pressure from neighboring realms. The city experienced a period of cultural flowering during the late era of caravans and later faced maritime conflicts with pirate fleets before stabilizing.

Governance: It is governed by a council drawn from major guild districts and overseen by a magistrate elected for a one-year term.

Economy: Its economy centers on maritime trade, textile production, metalworking, and provisioning for ships. The Amber Market each week serves as a major exchange of goods and information. The Lirathan Archive and associated academies attract scholars across the realm.

Culture and landmarks: Key sites include the Library of Lirathan, the Temple of the Sapphire Wheel, and the Old Wharf. The city hosts an annual Lantern Festival and a small but vibrant arts scene centered on bronzework and mural painting.
