Lipotransfer

Lipotransfer, also known as fat grafting or fat injection, is a cosmetic surgical procedure where a patient's own fat is harvested from one area of the body and injected into another. The primary goal is to enhance volume, improve contour, or correct defects. Common donor sites for fat include the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks, chosen for their abundance of adipose tissue. The harvested fat undergoes a purification process, typically centrifugation, to separate viable fat cells and stem cells from blood and other fluids. This purified fat is then meticulously injected into the target area using fine needles or cannulas. Lipotransfer can be used for various purposes, including facial rejuvenation to restore lost volume in areas like the cheeks or under the eyes, augmenting the breasts or buttocks, and smoothing out contour irregularities caused by surgery or trauma. The longevity of lipotransfer results can vary, as a portion of the injected fat may be reabsorbed by the body. However, the fat cells that survive become a permanent part of the recipient tissue.
