Liitäntäpaneelit, known in English as connection panels or patch panels, are hardware devices that act as a central point for connecting and managing electrical or electronic wiring. They are commonly found in telecommunications, networking, and audio-visual installations. In networking, a patch panel serves as a fixed termination point for horizontal cabling that runs from the work area to the telecommunications room. Ports on the front of the panel allow for flexible connections to network devices via patch cords. This setup simplifies network management, troubleshooting, and reconfigurations, as changes can be made by swapping patch cords rather than altering the permanent cabling infrastructure.

Liitäntäpaneelit are typically rack-mounted or wall-mounted. They come in various configurations depending on the type of connection they support, such as RJ45 for Ethernet, SC or LC for fiber optics, or XLR and TRS for audio signals. The rear of the panel usually contains punch-down terminals or other termination methods for the permanent wiring, while the front features standardized ports for patch cables.
