Levyjouset

Levyjouset, also known as plate springs or disc springs, are a type of spring that utilize the elasticity of a disc or a series of discs to store and release mechanical energy. They are characterized by their conical shape, which allows them to deform under load and return to their original shape when the load is removed. This design provides a high force capacity within a relatively small space.

The force-deflection characteristic of a single levyjous is non-linear, meaning the force required to compress it increases at an accelerating rate as it is compressed. This property can be altered by stacking multiple levyjous together. When stacked in a series, the total deflection is the sum of the deflections of individual springs, while the total force is the force of a single spring. When stacked in parallel (back-to-back), the total force is multiplied, while the deflection remains that of a single spring.

Levyjouset find application in a wide range of industries due to their compact size, high energy storage capacity, and predictable performance.
