Leikkuuväylä

Leikkuuväylä is a Finnish term that translates to "cutting path" or "cutting channel." It refers to a designated area or route within a forest where logging activities, such as felling trees and transporting timber, are to take place. The concept of a leikkuuväylä is an integral part of sustainable forest management, aiming to minimize environmental impact and maximize efficiency during timber harvesting operations.

The establishment of a leikkuuväylä involves careful planning. Foresters assess the terrain, tree density, and the types of machinery that will be used. They then mark out the path, considering factors like slope, soil conditions, and proximity to water bodies to prevent erosion and sedimentation. The width and length of the leikkuuväylä are determined by the scale of the operation and the size of the timber being harvested.
