Lehramtsreferendariat refers to the mandatory practical training phase for aspiring teachers in Germany. It is the second phase of teacher training, following the initial academic studies (Lehramtsstudium) which culminates in the first state examination. The Referendariat is designed to provide candidates with practical pedagogical experience under the supervision of experienced teachers and mentors. The duration of the Referendariat varies by German state (Bundesland) and the type of teaching qualification sought, but typically lasts between 18 and 24 months.

During the Referendariat, candidates, often referred to as Referendare, are integrated into a school setting.
