Lapósférgek

Lapósférgek is a term used in Hungarian to refer to flatworms, belonging to the phylum Platyhelminthes. This phylum is characterized by its members being dorsoventrally flattened, meaning they are thin from top to bottom. Lapósférgek encompass a wide range of organisms, from free-living forms found in aquatic and terrestrial environments to parasitic species that inhabit plants and animals.

The phylum Platyhelminthes is divided into several classes, including Turbellaria (free-living flatworms), Trematoda (flukes), and Cestoda (tapeworms). Turbellarians are typically found in freshwater and marine habitats and are known for their ciliated epidermis. Trematodes and cestodes, on the other hand, are endoparasites with complex life cycles often involving multiple hosts.

Many lapósférgek exhibit bilateral symmetry and possess three germ layers, but they lack a true coelom (body cavity). Their digestive system, if present, is often incomplete, with a single opening serving as both mouth and anus. Respiration and excretion are carried out through diffusion across their body surface.

The ecological and economic significance of lapósférgek varies. Free-living species play roles in their ecosystems as predators or scavengers. However, parasitic lapósférgek can cause significant diseases in livestock, wildlife, and humans, leading to health problems and economic losses.
