Langevarustus

Langevarustus is the collection of equipment used for parachuting, providing a controlled descent and safe landings. It is used by sport skydivers, military personnel, search and rescue teams, and others who jump from aircraft or aircraft-like platforms. The system is designed to reliably deploy a parachute canopy and allow the jumper to steer and land safely.

A typical langevarustus consists of a harness and container that holds one or more parachute canopies, a deployment system with a pilot chute and lines, and a reserve parachute with its own container. The main canopy is deployed by extracting the pilot chute, which pulls the deployment bag from the main container. A reserve parachute is carried as a backup, typically deployed by a separate ripcord or activation method. Modern rigs may include an automatic activation device (AAD) that deploys the reserve parachute in specific situations. In addition to the core system, jumpers often use a helmet, goggles, altimeter, jumpsuit, and gloves for protection and situational awareness.

Operationally, the equipment is inspected, packed, and maintained by qualified personnel. Regular checks and repacking intervals are essential to ensure reliability, and most jurisdictions require training and licensing for skydiving.
