Landhausstyle is a design and architectural tradition rooted in rural farmhouses of German-speaking regions, especially Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It emphasizes a warm, inviting atmosphere, practicality, and a sense of Gemütlichkeit. The style blends rustic authenticity with refined craftsmanship and is applied in interiors, exteriors, and furniture design.

Historically, Landhausstyle draws on vernacular building practices and Alpine chalet influences. It gained prominence in the 19th and early 20th centuries through romantic nationalism and continued to evolve through postwar revival movements. In modern contexts, it is commonly used to evoke country living while accommodating contemporary needs.

Typical features include natural materials such as timber, stone, and lime plaster; exposed wooden beams; white or warm plaster walls; wooden floors; and furniture made of oak or pine. Textiles often employ checks, florals, and embroidery-like patterns. The color palette favors creams, beiges, taupe, and earthy tones, with metal accents in wrought iron or copper. The overall effect is rustic yet crafted, with attention to traditional joinery and handmade details. In architecture, steep roofs, timber framing (Fachwerk), and large, welcoming kitchens are common.

Variations exist, including Alpenstil in Alpine areas and Bauernstube-inspired interiors.
