Laatuongelmia

Laatuongelma is a Finnish term used in quality management to describe problems related to the quality of products, processes, or services. The word combines laatu (quality) and ongelma (problem). In singular form it refers to an individual issue; in plural, laatuongelmia, it denotes multiple quality problems that an organization must address. The concept is applied across industries such as manufacturing, software development, and service delivery.

Typical laatuongelmia include defects or nonconformities that fail to meet specifications, design flaws, material defects, process variations, measurement errors, and supplier-related issues. They can range from minor deviations to critical failures that impact safety, compliance, or customer satisfaction. Causes are varied and may involve design problems, inadequate processes, insufficient controls, human error, or equipment wear.

Detection and evaluation rely on quality assurance activities such as inspections, testing, statistical process control, and customer feedback. Key indicators include defect rates, nonconformity counts, first-pass yield, and process capability indices.
