LRT1

LRT1, also known as the Light Rail Transit Line 1, is a rapid transit line in Metro Manila, Philippines. Operated by the Light Rail Transit Authority and the Philippine National Railways, it is one of the oldest and most heavily used mass transit systems in the country. The line primarily connects the cities of Baclaran and Roosevelt, passing through key districts including Pasay, Parañaque, Makati, Manila, and Quezon City.

The LRT1 line has an approximately 20-kilometer route, consisting of 20 stations. It was initially inaugurated in 1984, making it the first railway line in the Philippines. Over the years, the line has undergone several upgrades and extensions to accommodate increasing passenger demand and improve service reliability.

Much of the line features elevated tracks, with some sections at-grade or underground. The LRT1 uses modern light rail vehicles, with trains running at intervals of a few minutes during peak hours. The line offers a convenient and economical mode of transportation across Metro Manila, alleviating road traffic congestion.

Planned developments for LRT1 include future extensions to connect more suburban areas and integrate with other transit systems such as the MRT and upcoming metro lines. Its stations are integrated into the urban landscape, often serving as crucial transit hubs with access to buses, jeepneys, and commercial establishments.
