LEDdiodeja

LEDdiodeja (often written LED-diodeja) is a compound term used in some Finno-Ugric languages, notably Finnish, to refer to multiple light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The word combines the English-derived acronym LED with the native plural form of diode, and is commonly used in everyday and technical contexts to describe LED components or assemblies.

As a concept, LED diodes are semiconductor devices that emit light when an electric current passes through a p–n junction, a process known as electroluminescence. Different semiconductor materials and doping levels produce a range of visible colors and wavelengths, and modern LEDs also include phosphor-converted white types.

LEDs are widely used across applications such as general and architectural lighting, display panels, indicators, automotive lighting, and optical communications. Their advantages include high energy efficiency, long operational life, compact size, and fast switching capability. Practical considerations include thermal management, driver electronics, color rendering and temperature, and protection against electrostatic discharge.

The term LEDdiodeja is primarily linguistic rather than technical; usage may vary in spelling and hyphenation. In technical writing, more precise terms such as LED package, emitter, or array are often preferred. Standards and guidelines from international organizations address safety, performance, and measurement of LED products.
