LDPEfilm

LDPEfilm refers to film produced from low-density polyethylene (LDPE). LDPE is a branched form of polyethylene with densities typically around 0.910–0.940 g/cm3. The branching gives high flexibility, impact resistance, and toughness, but results in lower tensile strength and crystallinity compared with linear polyethylenes.

LDPE film is commonly produced by high-pressure, free-radical polymerization to create the branched resin, which is then melted and extruded into film. The two main processing methods are blown-film extrusion and cast-film extrusion. Blown film yields films with good toughness and bubble stability, while cast film provides excellent surface finish and tight thickness control. LDPE film is known for easy heat sealing, printability, and compatibility with lamination.

Key properties include high clarity and softness, good puncture resistance, and excellent sealability. However, LDPE film generally has higher permeability to water vapor and gases than many other plastics, and lower stiffness and mechanical strength than HDPE or LLDPE. Its performance at elevated temperatures is limited, and it can undergo creep under load.

Common applications cover a wide range of packaging and protection needs. LDPE film is widely used for shopping and bread bags, produce and gift wraps, shrink wrap, protective packaging, moisture barriers for certain foods, and agricultural films such as greenhouse and mulch films. Recyclability is typically possible under resin code 4, but actual recycling depends on local programs and film contamination.

Overall, LDPE film offers a cost-effective, versatile packaging material with excellent sealability and ductility, balanced against moderate barrier properties and environmental considerations.
