Lõikeprotsessid, often translated as cutting processes, refer to a group of manufacturing operations that remove material from a workpiece to achieve a desired shape or dimension. These processes are fundamental to many industries, including automotive, aerospace, and electronics, where precision and efficiency are paramount.

The primary goal of cutting processes is to separate material or create cavities by using a cutting tool that is harder than the material being worked on. This is typically achieved through mechanical force. Common types of cutting processes include machining operations like milling, turning, drilling, and sawing. In milling, a rotating multi-point tool removes material. Turning involves a workpiece rotating against a stationary cutting tool. Drilling creates cylindrical holes, while sawing uses a toothed blade to cut through material.

Beyond traditional machining, cutting processes also encompass non-conventional methods. Laser cutting utilizes a focused laser beam to melt, burn, or vaporize material. Waterjet cutting employs a high-pressure stream of water, often mixed with abrasive particles, to erode material. Electrical discharge machining (EDM) uses electrical sparks to remove material from a workpiece.

The selection of a specific cutting process depends on various factors, including the material's properties, the required precision, the complexity of the shape, production volume, and cost considerations. Understanding these processes is crucial for efficient and effective manufacturing.
