Käskymuisti, a Finnish term that can be translated as "command memory" or "instruction memory," refers to a specific type of memory in computer architecture. It is a portion of the main memory dedicated to storing the instructions that a processor will execute. This contrasts with data memory, which stores the data that the instructions operate on.

The concept of a separate instruction memory is fundamental to the design of many computer processors, particularly those employing the Von Neumann architecture, where both instructions and data reside in the same memory space. However, in some architectures, like the Harvard architecture, instruction memory and data memory are physically distinct. This separation can allow for simultaneous fetching of instructions and data, potentially leading to improved performance.
