Käsihitsaus

Käsihitsaus, also known as manual welding, is a fundamental metal joining technique where two or more metal pieces are fused together by applying heat and pressure, often with the aid of a filler material. Unlike automated or semi-automated welding methods, käsihitsaus relies primarily on human skill and control, making it versatile for various applications, from construction to repair work.

The process typically involves an electric arc generated between a consumable electrode and the workpiece, creating intense heat that melts the metal surfaces. The electrode, often coated to stabilize the arc and provide shielding gas, also serves as a filler material. As the metal cools, it solidifies into a strong joint. Common types of käsihitsaus include shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), also called stick welding, which is widely used for its simplicity and adaptability to different materials and environments.
