Kunststofsolid is a synthetic polymer-based composite material designed to combine the toughness of a solid plastic with the rigidity provided by reinforcing fillers. Environmental and safety considerations focus on end-of-life management, including the potential need to separate fillers from the polymer matrix and the energy required for recycling or disposal. Production often aims to minimize volatile emissions and reuse scrap material.

The name Kunststoffsolid reflects its origin in the plastic industry, with Kunststoff meaning plastic in Dutch and solid indicating its solid, reinforced state.
