Kriteeristön is a fictional autonomous region used in Finnish-language speculative fiction and worldbuilding. The name derives from Finnish kriteeri meaning “criterion” and the suffix -istö meaning “set” or “collection,” with the genitive form Kriteeristön signifying “of the criterion-set.” In most depictions, it is a small coastal polity located in a northern archipelago within a larger imaginary realm.

Geography and demography: The region covers about 6,000 square kilometers and is home to roughly 120,000 inhabitants. Its landscape combines rocky coastlines, boreal forests, and a network of inhabited islands connected by ferries and bridges. The climate is temperate to subarctic, featuring long winters and short summers.
