Korsatkech

Korsatkech is a small town in the highlands of the fictional continent of Elaria, within the province of Anara. It lies along the Korsat River and sits at approximately 850 meters above sea level. The town serves as a local market and administrative center for surrounding villages.

The name Korsatkech is derived from the ancient Khor language, where kor means stone and shatak or kech denotes crossroads, reflecting its historical role as a meeting point for travelers.

The area features a temperate montane climate, with mild summers and cold, snowy winters. Terraced fields and mixed forests surround the town; rainfall is seasonal, supporting orchard crops and barley.

Korsatkech arose in the 14th century as a staging point for caravans trading between northern uplands and southern port towns. It received town rights in 1428 and expanded around a central market square. A stone gate and a guild hall date from the medieval period.

Today, Korsatkech has a population around 3,200, with a local economy based on agriculture, woodworking crafts, and small-scale commerce. The town council administers local services, with district representation in the Anara provincial assembly.

The Old Market Arena, the Stone Gate, and the Guild of Stone Carvers are notable sites. Annual markets attract traders from neighboring districts. Local festivals celebrate harvests and craftsmanship.

The town is connected by two major roads to regional centers; a district school provides basic education, with apprenticeships in carpentry and masonry.
