Korishga

Korishga is a coastal city-state on the southeastern shore of the Valerian Archipelago in the fictional realm of Eldara. It serves as the capital of the Korish Confederation and is a major maritime and commercial hub.

The city sits in a natural harbor backed by rolling hills, while the Miru River runs inland to provide water and irrigation. The climate is temperate with mild winters and dry summers.

Historically, Korishga originated as a fortified trading post founded circa 980 by the Kor people. It developed as a commercial link between inland markets and sea routes, and it joined the Korish Confederation in the 17th century.

As of 2023, the city proper is home to about 110,000 residents. The population is predominantly Korish, with minority communities including the Lume and Varin. The official language is Korish, with other languages spoken in local neighborhoods.

The harbor supports fishing, shipbuilding, and container traffic. The economy also includes light manufacturing and logistics services. Transportation infrastructure consists of Korishga International Airport and a freight rail line connecting to inland markets.

Korishga operates within a constitutional framework of the Korish Confederation. It is governed by a municipal council and a locally elected mayor. The council meets in the Senate Hall.

Cultural traditions include the annual Harbor Festival, seafood cuisine, and waterfront markets. Notable landmarks are the Old Lighthouse, the Market of Winds, and the Fortress of the Sable Gate.
