Kopierabdruks refers to the printed outputs produced by copying devices such as photocopiers and multifunction printers. It covers monochrome and color copies made from original documents, photos, or other copies, and is widely used for office workflows, study materials, and archival duplications. The term emphasizes the reproduction process rather than the content.

Historically, kopierabdruks emerged with the development of xerography in the mid-20th century, enabling rapid and inexpensive duplication. Modern copiers use digital imaging, scanning, and color laser or LED print engines to produce copies with varying fidelity. In color copies, separate color channels are combined to approximate the original image; in black-and-white copies, details depend on resolution, contrast, and paper.

Quality and limitations: Copy quality depends on scanner resolution, original content, and paper stock. Common issues include misregistrations, ghost images, toner smears, and banding. Paper choice, moisture, and aging can affect legibility. While suitable for many documents, kopierabdruks are typically not ideal for high-end art reproductions or archival originals, where dedicated reproduction methods are preferred. Copyright and licensing restrictions apply when duplicating protected material.
