Koostesana

Koostesana is a village located in the Waqabooks tribe region of Podok River, Eboyin District, South West Region of Cameroon. It has a rich cultural heritage and traditional practices. The village is situated near the Ebo Forest, a dense and protected area of tropical rainforest. The environment and climate of the area are characterized by high temperatures and high levels of rainfall throughout the year.

The village is primarily inhabited by indigenous people who farm and hunt in the surrounding forest. The majority of the population depends on subsistence farming and trade with neighboring communities for their livelihood. The staple crops grown in the area include yams, plantains, and cassava. Hunting and fishing are also common practices in Koostesana, with many communities relying on the forest for protein sources.

Koostesana has a population density of approximately 180 people per square kilometer, based on the 2020 estimates from local research. The village has limited access to basic infrastructure such as electricity and sanitation facilities. Education is restricted, and the availability of basic healthcare services is limited in the area. Local residents have been recorded to possess some knowledge of traditional herbal medicines for treating various ailments.

Development efforts have been slow in the area, with local communities facing challenges related to access to services and infrastructure. The local council and neighboring districts have made efforts to engage with local communities through projects aimed at increasing economic activities and infrastructure development. Nevertheless, these areas remain largely underdeveloped, and the overall quality of life in Koostesana remains below the national average in Cameroon.
