Eboyin

Eboyin is a city and commune located in the Togo and it is the capital of the Plateaux Region. It has a total area of approximately 550 square kilometers. The commune is situated on the axis of the transverse commercial and administrative road linking the northern regions to Bassar and the southern axis of the east-west road climbing towards Kara.

The city is inhabited by the Bassari people. Eboyin has a rural and agricultural character, with crops such as maize, and cowpea being farmed. The local economy is generally subsistence-based, with productive activities mostly directed towards daily household needs. As the region's capital, Eboyin serves as the hub of the subsistence economy, with a market day that provides opportunities for local exchanges.

Eboyin has an age structure, with 58.29% of the population being under the age of 25. The local infrastructure consists of few tarmac roads and most of the area is made up of dirt paths. The local commune is poorly equipped, with insufficient primary schools, making it necessary for the coupling of the elementary school to a two-year structure. Nonetheless, Eboyin has seen progress in terms of weighing itself up and moving forward with renewed vigor.

Markets are held daily in the locality, including a Wednesday morning market, providing an opportunity for farmers to exchange their products for cash, goods, or other commodities. Contact with urban zones is developing. Further north than the capital of Lomé, Eboyin gets increasingly linked up with urban sectors via market links. Despite this, the economy of the area remains primarily subsistence-based.
