Konverteeritus

Konverteeritus is a theoretical concept used to describe a system's capacity to convert inputs from one representation into another while preserving the essential information or meaning. It is discussed in fields such as data interoperability, digital preservation, and cross-modal artificial intelligence. The term combines konverteer (to convert) with the Latin suffix -itus and is used to frame questions about how faithfully transformations preserve content across formats.

Conceptually, konverteeritus distinguishes between preserving structural form (syntax) and preserving conveyed meaning (semantics). A high konverteeritus implies near-lossless semantic preservation for a given class of inputs. A transformation function f maps input representations X to outputs Y, with evaluation focusing on semantic equivalence across a task set. A konverteeritus score can be defined on a 0 to 1 scale, representing average semantic preservation.

Applications include data interchange where formats must carry the same information, cross-modal AI where signals are translated without changing meaning, and digital preservation where content must survive format migrations.
