Kontrollmodus

Kontrollmodus is a German term meaning control mode. In a broad sense it refers to a state of a system in which the operator has a defined set of controls over the system’s behavior, or where certain operations are restricted to authorized personnel. The concept is used in technical documentation to describe modes that fix inputs, constrain outputs, or alter the available configuration to support safety, reliability, or security.

In software and digital devices, kontrollmodus often denotes a mode where access to features is limited or intensified. It may require authentication, present a reduced or protected command surface, or enable specialized diagnostic or maintenance tools.
