Konformasjonenes
Konformasjonenes is a term used in chemistry to describe the complete set of distinct spatial arrangements a molecule can adopt through rotation about single bonds, without breaking any bonds. In Norwegian usage, konformasjon = conformation, and Konformasjonenes denotes the ensemble of these conformations. The relative stability of each conformation is determined by torsional strain, steric interactions, and electronic effects, producing a landscape with discrete energy minima corresponding to energetically favorable conformers.
In practice, many organic molecules are highly flexible and can interconvert between conformations at room temperature.
The study of Konformasjonenes combines experimental and computational methods. NMR spectroscopy and variable-temperature measurements reveal dynamic
