Konessen is a traditional African musical genre and dance style that originated among the Konso people, an ethnic group primarily residing in the Konso Special Woreda of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) in Ethiopia. The term "Konessen" combines the words "Konso" and "sesen," meaning "drum" in the local Afaan Oromo language, reflecting the central role of drums in the music.

The music and dance of Konessen are deeply tied to cultural rituals, celebrations, and social gatherings.
