Kompresszív
Kompresszív refers to something that applies compression, meaning it squeezes or presses down. This term is most commonly encountered in medical contexts, particularly in relation to bandages and stockings. Kompresszív bandages are used to reduce swelling, improve circulation, and support injured limbs. They work by applying even pressure to the affected area, which helps to prevent fluid buildup and promote healing. Kompresszív stockings, often called compression stockings, serve a similar purpose. They are designed to help prevent blood clots, alleviate varicose veins, and reduce swelling in the legs, especially for individuals who stand or sit for long periods. The degree of compression in these medical devices is typically measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg), with different levels indicating varying strengths of pressure. Beyond medical applications, the concept of kompresszív can be applied to any situation where pressure is intentionally applied. For example, in engineering, materials might be designed to be kompresszív under certain loads. In a more general sense, anything that exerts a squeezing force could be described as kompresszív.
