Kompressioonmähised
Kompressioonmähised, also known as compression wraps or compression bandages, are elasticated fabric strips used to apply pressure to a limb or body part. They are commonly employed in medical settings to manage swelling, particularly after injuries or surgery. The primary function of a kompressioonmähis is to reduce edema by preventing the accumulation of excess fluid in the interstitial spaces. This is achieved through graduated compression, where the pressure is tightest at the extremity and gradually decreases up the limb, promoting venous return and lymphatic drainage.
These wraps are also utilized in the treatment of venous insufficiency, varicose veins, and deep vein thrombosis
