Kolesteroolipolüüpi is a term that refers to a cholesterol deposit, typically found on the surface of tissues or organs. In some instances, cholesterol deposits can be seen on the skin as xanthelasma or xanthoma, which are yellowish, fatty lumps that can occur around the eyes or on other parts of the body. The formation of cholesterol polyps is often linked to elevated levels of cholesterol in the blood, but other factors such as genetics, diet, and lifestyle can also contribute. Diagnosis usually involves imaging techniques or biopsies, depending on the location. Treatment strategies focus on managing underlying causes, such as lowering cholesterol levels through medication, dietary changes, and exercise, or surgical removal of the polyp if it causes significant symptoms or health risks.
