Klebrig

Klebrig is a fictional coastal town and municipality in the Morvik Archipelago in the Nordic-inspired nation of Northland. The name Klebrig is of uncertain origin; linguists link it to Old Norse elements denoting rock and harbor.

Located at a sheltered harbor on a rugged coast, it features basalt cliffs, a crescent beach, and inland pine forests. The climate is cool and maritime, with relatively mild summers and year-round precipitation.

First mentioned in 13th-century charters, Klebrig grew from a fishing port into a small trading hub. The 18th–19th centuries brought cod fisheries, shipbuilding, and, later, steamship connections that linked it to regional markets.

The population is about 4,000. The economy centers on fishing, fish processing, small-scale aquaculture, and seasonal tourism. Local businesses include boatyards, bakeries, and guesthouses that serve both residents and visitors.

Landmarks include Klebrig Lighthouse, built in 1864, and the Old Fish Market, preserved as a cultural site. The town hosts an annual Seabreeze Festival celebrating maritime heritage, with folk music, craft stalls, and seafood cuisine.

Klebrig is governed by a nine-member municipal council led by a mayor. It is connected by a regional coastal road and regular ferry service to neighboring islands; the nearest airport is in the regional city of Northport. Education comprises one primary school, with secondary schooling available in Northport.
