Kethara is a fictional planet in the Lyria system used for speculative fiction and worldbuilding. It orbits a late-type G-star and has an estimated population of about 7.5 million. The planet comprises three major continents—Valis, Serris, and Drathu—along with numerous islands in the Ketharan Sea. The capital city is Nethara, situated on Valis’s eastern coast.

Geography and climate vary across the world. Valis hosts tropical rainforests and mangroves; Serris contains temperate forests and highland plateaus; Drathu features polar ice caps and tundra. The Obsidian Range is a central mountain system, and the Ring Desert lies to the southern hemisphere. This diversity supports a range of ecosystems and localized climate zones.

History and political development began with mapping by the horizon survey ship in 2148. Early settlements formed coastal city-states, and in the late 26th century the Kethara Confederation unified these factions into a federal framework. The planet subsequently joined interstellar trade networks and developed a space program, contributing to regional research and development.

Government and administration are organized as a federal republic known as the Kethara Confederation. The Executive Council handles broad governance, while a bicameral General Assembly prepares legislation. Provinces retain local councils, and Nethara serves as the seat of central government.

Economy and infrastructure are mixed, with agriculture focused on resilient crops, forestry, and small-scale mining in the Obsidian Range. Manufacturing, shipbuilding, and biotech are important, supported by a network of spaceports. The Kethara Space Authority oversees orbital exploration and satellite operations, linking the continents through shared technology and commerce.

Culture and society emphasize scientific literacy and environmental stewardship. The primary language family is Kethari, with Serrin and other languages spoken regionally. Festivals such as Luminara reflect a tradition of communal participation, while arts including glasswork and echo-sculpture contribute to regional identity.
