Kelkian

Kelkian is a fictional sovereign nation on the eastern coast of the continent of Valara. It covers about 112,000 sq km and has varied terrain from coastal plains to the Keldan Highlands. The capital is Velkar; other major cities include Neris and Lomar. Population is about 6.3 million. The country is divided into six provinces and a coastal autonomous region.

Kelkian is a constitutional republic with a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government. The legislature is a unicameral Assembly with around 140 seats, elected for five-year terms. The judiciary is independent, led by the Supreme Court.

Ancient Kel people inhabited the region; the modern state gained independence in 1953 from a colonial power and joined the Valaran Economic Union in 1996.

The economy is mixed, with agriculture, manufacturing, and services. Key sectors include citrus and tea, textiles, electronics, and tourism. The currency is the kelk (K). Major exports: agricultural goods, textiles, machinery components; imports: fuels, chemicals, and raw materials. Trade partners include regional neighbors and global markets.

Ethnic Kel and related groups predominate; official language is Kelkian; English is widely used in business and education. Literacy is high, around 98%, and there are several universities in Velkar, Neris, and Lomar.

Cultural life emphasizes traditional music, crafts, and cuisine. National holidays commemorate independence and harvests. The flag is blue with a silver coastal emblem; the anthem is “Voices of Valara.”
