Kavus
Kavus, also spelled Kay Kavus, is a legendary king of Iran in Persian literature, most prominently featured in Ferdowsi’s epic Shahnameh (The Book of Kings). The name appears in several transliterations (Kavus, Kavōs, Kaouš). In the Shahnameh he is depicted as a monarch of the early legendary dynasty who presides over a prosperous yet morally fraught reign. Kavus is commonly characterized as generous and ambitious but prone to reckless decisions, dependent on flattery, and prone to seeking external magical aid rather than prudent governance.
