Kapselista

Kapselista is a term used in urban design and architecture to describe a proponent of capsule housing, a system of small, modular living units that can be linked to form larger dwellings. The word combines kapseli, Finnish for capsule, with the agent suffix -ista, yielding “capsule advocate.”

A kapselista promotes standardized, prefabricated capsules as building blocks for housing. Capsules are typically designed as compact modules that include sleeping, work, and sanitation facilities, with shared corridors, kitchens, or lounges. They are intended to be stackable and reconfigurable, enabling rapid deployment, scalable density, and simplified maintenance.
