Kamertypes

Kamertypes, literally room types, is a term used in architecture, real estate, and hospitality to categorize spaces by function, size, and features. The concept helps designers, marketers, and clients compare spaces and specify requirements. Because practices differ by country, industry, and building codes, there is no single universal taxonomy, but several common categories recur across sectors.

In architectural and real estate contexts, typical kamertypes describe rooms within a dwelling: living rooms or lounges; dining rooms; kitchens; bedrooms or sleeping areas; bathrooms; studies or home offices; and utility or storage rooms. Floor plans may combine these into open plans (for example, open living/kitchen areas) or compartmentalized layouts with separate rooms.

In hospitality, kamertypes classify guest rooms by occupancy and amenities: single or double rooms for one or two guests; twin rooms with two separate beds; triple or quad rooms for larger parties; suites that include additional living space such as a sitting area or kitchenette; junior or executive suites with premium features; and specialty rooms such as accessible rooms for guests with mobility needs. Some properties also distinguish studios or family rooms with space for children or extra beds.

Use in practice: kamertypes support pricing, inventory management, and marketing. They guide interior design choices, furniture and equipment standards, and compliance with local accessibility or safety requirements. Because names and criteria vary by region and brand, room type descriptions should be read carefully in listings and drawings.
