Kaasupolttimen

Kaasupolttimen, literally "gas burner" in Finnish, is a device that burns gas to produce a controlled flame used for cooking, heating, or other heating processes. It is typically integrated into a gas stove or range, but it can also be a portable burner for camping or temporary installations.

A gas burner consists of a burner head with flame ports, an air intake, and a gas inlet regulated by a control valve. Gas is mixed with air to produce a stable flame; ignition is usually electric (spark) in modern units, while older models may use a standing or manually lit pilot flame. The size and design of the burner head determine the flame pattern and heat output.

Most burners are designed for natural gas or LPG (propane or butane). Some specialized burners operate on biogas or other manufactured gases. Common configurations include simmer burners for gentle heating and high-heat burners for rapid boiling. Built-in stoves use multiple burners of varying sizes.

Safety and maintenance: Gas burners require proper ventilation to avoid buildup of combustion products. Installation should follow local codes and include a regulator to maintain stable pressure. Modern domestic burners often include safety features such as flame supervision devices or flame-failure protection, as well as automatic ignition. Regular maintenance includes keeping the burner ports clean and checking for gas leaks with soapy water.
