Kaasulämmitys

Kaasulämmitys refers to a heating system that utilizes natural gas or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) as its fuel source. These systems typically involve a gas boiler or furnace that combusts the gas to produce heat. This heat is then distributed throughout a building, most commonly via a central heating system involving radiators or underfloor heating.

The primary components of a typical kaasulämmitys system include a gas supply line, the boiler or furnace itself, a heat exchanger, a fan or pump for circulation, and a control system for regulating temperature. Boilers heat water, which is then circulated, while furnaces heat air. Modern gas heating systems are often highly efficient, with condensing boilers capable of recovering extra heat from the exhaust gases, leading to lower energy consumption and reduced emissions.

Advantages of kaasulämmitys include its relatively low running costs, especially in areas with readily available natural gas, and the convenience of a consistent and controllable heat source. It also generally produces fewer localized emissions compared to solid fuel heating. However, the price of natural gas can fluctuate, and reliance on a gas supply can be a disadvantage in regions where it is not widely available. Safety is also a consideration, requiring proper installation and regular maintenance to prevent gas leaks or carbon monoxide issues.
