Készültséget

Készültséget refers to the state or condition of being prepared to act in response to anticipated needs, events, or threats. It denotes the readiness of people, systems, or institutions to perform duties, mobilize resources, or implement measures quickly and effectively. The term stems from the adjective kész, meaning ready, with the nominal suffix -tség, forming the abstract noun for a state. The form készültséget appears in contexts where the concept is the object of a verb, for example, készültséget tanúsít (to demonstrate readiness) or készültséget tart fenn (to maintain readiness).

In practice, készültséget is used across domains. In military contexts it describes the level at which forces or units are prepared for deployment. In civil protection and emergency management it refers to how authorities, organizations, and communities maintain readiness to respond to disasters, accidents, or public health events. In workplace safety and operations it can indicate the degree of preparedness for planned tasks, drills, or contingencies. Public communications may likewise refer to different készültségi fokozat or alert levels to signal the urgency and speed of response.

Készültség is often treated as both a state and a management objective: organizations aim to increase and sustain readiness through training, planning, resource allocation, and drills. It is commonly contrasted with the processes of felkészülés (preparation) and with actual response, where readiness enables timely and effective action.
