Képformátumok refer to the various ways digital images are stored and represented. These formats dictate how pixel data, color information, and metadata are organized, impacting file size, image quality, and compatibility.

Common raster image formats include JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), widely used for photographs due to its efficient lossy compression, which reduces file size by discarding some image data. PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless format, preserving all image data and supporting transparency, making it suitable for graphics, logos, and web images where sharp edges and transparency are important. GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) is another lossless format, known for its support of animation and a limited color palette, often used for simple animations and web graphics. BMP (Bitmap) is a simple, uncompressed raster format that results in larger file sizes but offers high fidelity.

Vector image formats, such as SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), represent images using mathematical equations and geometric primitives rather than pixels. This allows them to be scaled to any size without loss of quality, making them ideal for logos, illustrations, and icons that need to be displayed at various resolutions.

Other formats exist for specific purposes, like TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) for high-quality print and professional photography, and RAW formats used by digital cameras to store unprocessed image data, offering maximum flexibility for post-processing.
