These difficulties are characterized by persistent patterns of disruptive, defiant, disobedient, or aggressive behavior that significantly interfere with a person's social, academic, or occupational functioning. Common examples include oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) and conduct disorder (CD). ODD is typically characterized by a pattern of negativistic, hostile, and disobedient behavior towards authority figures, whereas conduct disorder involves more serious violations of social norms and the rights of others, such as aggression towards people or animals, destruction of property, deceitfulness or theft, and serious violations of rules.
