Jännitystesteillä, known in English as stress testing, is a method used to evaluate the resilience and performance of systems, products, or individuals under conditions of extreme or prolonged pressure. In the context of engineering and software development, stress testing aims to identify breaking points and failure modes by subjecting a system to loads that exceed its normal operating capacity. This can involve overwhelming a server with a high volume of requests, running a program with an excessive amount of data, or pushing hardware components beyond their specified limits. The goal is to discover how the system behaves when it is stressed, such as how it recovers from overload, whether it fails gracefully, or if it experiences data corruption or system crashes.

Beyond technology, jännitystesteillä can also refer to psychological or physiological stress tests. In medicine, a stress test, often a cardiac stress test, measures the heart's response to physical exertion, typically on a treadmill or stationary bike.
