Juurutatavate

Juurutatavate is an Estonian term that refers to devices or substances intended to be implanted into a living organism for medical or veterinary purposes. The concept covers a broad range of items designed to remain in the body for therapeutic, diagnostic, or monitoring reasons. Juurutatavate may be implanted surgically or via minimally invasive methods and can be temporary or permanent, depending on the clinical goal and device design.

Common examples include orthopedic implants such as plates, screws, and joint prostheses; dental implants; cardiovascular implants like stents or pacemakers; neural implants used to record or stimulate nervous tissue; and drug-delivery systems such as implantable pumps or reservoirs. In veterinary medicine, implants may support rehabilitation, contraception, or biochemical monitoring.

Development and regulation: Juurutatavate are typically constructed from biocompatible materials, such as titanium alloys, ceramics, or biopolymers, and must be sterilized before implantation. They are regulated by health authorities and undergo preclinical testing and clinical trials to establish safety and effectiveness. Post-market surveillance monitors long-term performance and complications.
