Janeu
The Janeu, also known as the Yajnopavita or sacred thread, is a religious garment worn by initiated males in Hinduism, particularly among Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas. It is a cord composed of three strands, symbolizing the Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) or the three Vedas. The wearing of the Janeu is typically accompanied by a Upanayana ceremony, a significant rite of passage marking a boy's transition to Brahmacharya, the first stage of life. This ceremony signifies his readiness for formal education and his acceptance of spiritual responsibilities.
The three strands of the Janeu are also said to represent the three Gunas (Sattva, Rajas, and
